“ALICE BLACK represents part of London’s new growth, contributing to a forward-looking cultural discourse as a fresh, young gallery with a wealth of insight and ambitious plans for their artists and collectors alike.”

WALL STREET INTERNATIONAL

ALICE BLACK is a London based art gallery, established in 2017. Initially working as a project space and itinerant exhibition programme, in 2022 the gallery formalised its roster and now represents seven post-war and contemporary artists working across a range of mediums and conceptual concerns. Interdisciplinary in its focus, the programme is underpinned by a strong emphasis on materiality and the handmade.

Our core aim is to support artists whose practices constitute materially driven investigations into the existential, socio-political and environmental realities of our global moment, whilst positively uplifting and impacting the cultural landscape by driving inclusive and generative artistic discourse. Through a regular programme of exhibitions, talks series, supper clubs, studio visits and screenings we invite artists and audiences to interrogate what it means to live in our world today.

Represented artists; Rachael Bailey (b. 1975, UK); Ivan Black (b. 1972, UK), Dante Elsner (1920-1997, Poland), Matthew Harris (b. 1966, UK), Tristan Pigott (b. 1990, France), Amber Pinkerton (b. 1997, Jamaica) and Atalanta Xanthe (b. 1996, USA).

ALICE BLACK was co-founded by Alice Black and Matt Symonds. Alice is a member of the Development Committee at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London (ICA), a Mentor at the Sarabande Foundation established by the late Alexander McQueen and a visiting tutor at Goldsmiths, University of London (MFA). She is recognised by Forbes as a young leader in her field: Forbes 30 Under 30 Art & Culture (2020).
